Nursery Rhymes are prevalent in recent recorded history. In fact, nursery rhymes and children's games have their roots in religious antiquity.

When playing in the Dirt was Cool

Some of my fondest memories are times when I was ankle deep in the mud pit we made by dumping buckets of water in the yard. My hands, face and clothes were covered in mud as my siblings and I styled the most delicious mud pies for our make believe friends. Mom wasn't worried because she had the hose hooked up and ready to water us down before we came into the house. It was a great way to spend a hot summer afternoon!

Mud pies, water games, sunshine and laughter was the perfect recipe for keeping kids entertained. That was many years ago, more than I care to admit. That memory makes me wonder if kids know how to have fun these days with simple things from the earth. I grew up when playing in the dirt was cool.
